Hello, it’s me! For those who don’t know - my name is Christina, and I am an outfit repeater. I’m also the founder of this newsletter.
This week, I thought I’d do a little check in and share what I’ve been living in this summer.
Lately, I’ve been alternating between long skirts and easy summer dresses. For work, my wardrobe leans heavily on maxi skirts. I have one each in black and brown and I wear them constantly, year round. I feel polished and professional in a long, belted skirt, but I also still feel like me - not too stuffy. In the summer I wear these with flats and a tank or tee, but they’re easy to wear in the cold too with boots, tights, sweaters, etc. Skirts are really foundational to me. That said, it's been so hot lately that I’m leaning towards very light dresses. I only have a few that I cycle through. I like sleeveless, midi or maxi dresses in a lightweight fabric. I tend to wear dresses on the looser side, even sizing up. I don’t need anything clinging to my skin in the heat. My newest acquisition is a slip dress found at a Prada sample sale. Honestly, it was still way too expensive on sale, but I’ve worn it about 15 times in the last month, so I think it will earn its keep. I usually don’t like wearing open toes in the city. You just never know what you’ll step in on the sidewalks of NYC, so ballet flats or fisherman sandals are my go-tos. When its time for vacation, I’ll trade for sandals from Emme Parsons. On the weekends, or anytime when I just want to knock around and not feel too precious, I go for baggy jeans or vintage army pants. I’m not really into shorts, or anything too short, even in the heat. As long as things are loose I can still keep pretty cool.
MY MOST WORN:
Long skirts. The two skirts I wear most frequently, from Tibi and MNZ, are no longer online. I have this one in black, and this one in dark brown (I’m wearing it above). I found some very good dupes below. Mine were tailored to the high heavens so they would hit at the right length (a little above the ankle) and fit my low waist. The key to this style of skirt is the waistband with belt loops. It makes the look feel sharper and more tailored, almost like a pair of trousers, and pairs really nicely with a tucked in shirt.
Easy dresses. Below you’ll see the aforementioned Prada dress that I’ve been wearing to death. I am loving the girlishness of it paired with a heavier sandal.
Baggy jeans. All of my favorite jeans are vintage Levi's. Lately I’ve been wearing a pair of mens 505s that are a few sizes too big. I kept the legs loose but cut them to my length, and had the waist nipped so they don’t fall off!
Cardigans. I’m in an air conditioned office most days, so I like keeping a little cardigan around. Many of mine are vintage but I’ve had my eye on all of the below. This Uniqlo style has a very Prada feel! It’s sold out now but apparently returning later this month. And I’ve always wanted an Agnes B. - so charming!
Flat shoes. The ballet flats I wear all the time are a vintage Banana Republic pair, stolen from my mom. They’re completely falling apart on the inside and they turn my feet black but I really love them. My fisherman sandals are from the Row. Here are a few others that I’m into.
Prada nylon bag. Lots of Prada talk! I carry my crossbody every single day. I got mine on TheRealReal and it is surprisingly roomy. These are pretty easy to find on the resale market, and they’re also very easy to clean and re-dye if you can snag a deal on something more worn.
Sunglasses. My two favorites are from the Khaite x Oliver Peoples collaboration and Ray Ban.
Classic belt. I held off on buying a nice belt for so long. It just seemed so expensive for a little strip of leather! But a good belt can really be a game changer. It polishes an outfit so nicely and will never go out of style.
Stay cool this weekend and thanks as always for reading. Tell your friends!
long shirts! i'm inspired
Love a baggy jean. Mine are often falling down, so I think one of those belts is in order! I used to read, over and over, that if you need a belt to keep your pants up, the pants are too big. Is this actually true?
